One Nation Under God

November 10, 2006

"Righteousness exalts a nation; but sin is a reproach to any people." Proverbs 14:34

"Blessed is the nation whose God is the LORD: and the people whom He has chosen for His own inheritance." Psalm 33:12

"Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers. For there is no power but of God: the powers that be are ordained of God." Romans 13:1

In this month when we recognize Veterans’ Day and the spiritual roots of America, we must remember that we were founded as "One Nation Under God."

The greatness of America is directly and distinctly caused by the commitment of the Pilgrim Fathers and our founding fathers to the Lordship of Jesus Christ over America. There is no other explanation for the power, prosperity, and influence of America than the presence of Jesus Christ in the history and life of America. To reject the glory of God in America or to relegate Christ to an insignificant role in public life is to invite the decline and fall of our Country.

The hope of America is in a revived Church that proclaims the Gospel and stands for the righteousness of God in morality in American life. The sincere saint on his knees and a family at prayer in Christian homes and churches is the hope of America.

The web site connection listed below is a beautiful portrayal of quotes by our founding father accompanied by striking pictures of America's historical sites. Connect to the site and enjoy the spiritual histories of our America.

God bless America, one nation under God!

"Holy Father, thank you for our Country, the United States of America. Forgive us for the arrogance of thinking that our greatness or wealth is because of our wisdom or abilities. We acknowledge that, "Unless the Lord builds the house, they labor in vain that build it." (Psalm 127:1) We honor you as the Source of every good and perfect gift. Father, we want Your name to be exalted. Make us again one nation under God. In the name of Jesus. Amen"

    Our Vision...

At First Baptist Clarksville we desire to know Christ through the worship of God, the teaching of the Bible, and the fellowship of believers, so that through the power of the Holy Spirit, we may be like Jesus Christ and make Him known to others, for the glory of God.
